Claire Francis MCIPS is the driving force behind Blackbox, forming a new consultancy to provide clients with personalised solutions to improve their procurement power.
Claire is a highly professional individual, with over 17 years experience in purchasing and business improvement beginning her career at Birse Build as materials buyer, then working for Denne and Oakdene Homes on projects across the south east.
In 2008 Claire joined Carillion as a national buyer, for reactive and planned maintenance services for clients including HSBC, Mapeley, Royal Mail, TUI and the NHS. She then moved onto Supply Chain Manager in 2010 for Carillion Business Services, creating sector and contract strategies ensuring best fit for clients and undertaking complete bottom up and rationalisation exercises on existing Supply Chains across the business.
She moved to NG Bailey in 2011 initially procuring for the mechanical and electrical division and then notably managing its £100m procurement for the redevelopment of London Bridge Station working closely with Network Rail to ensure value engineering, life costing and sustainability.
In September 2014 she moved to a family run SME, BJF Connections as Head of Procurement and Business Support, creating a new department and influenced a change in culture by rolling out associated processes and forms across the business, gaining them ISO 9001 in the process. Claire also had a key part in work winning, and mobilised two large MOD contracts whilst managing a team of six. Claire is currently working long-term for a global multi-faceted company across the 5 divisions of construction, fit-out, engineering, hospitality and retail; whilst supporting local SME's.
Claire is CIPS qualified, and very up to date with latest legislations such as Modern Slavery Act 2015, Bribery Act 2010 ensuring the businesses she represents are fully compliant with these laws.

Claire is passionate about world economics, and is a positively active supporter of the charity Build Africa, who work with parents and teachers across Kenya and Uganda to overcome the barriers of poverty and inequality. She will be visiting Masindi, Uganda to assist with their teaching and mum's reading programme in 2019. To find out more about Build Africa, visit their website www.build-africa.org
Another project close to Claire's heart is Kiva, the world's first online micro-lending platform where money is borrowed to entrepreneurs and educational projects across the globe.
